Weather Wows: an Immersive Meteorology Learning Experience
Imagine being caught in a blizzard, a hurricane, or a sandstorm-but instead of just reading about it, you experience it firsthand in a virtual world. That’s the goal of this project: an interactive course on extreme weather, designed to teach students about different weather conditions, their environmental impact, and survival strategies.

Problem
Textbooks don't always capture the intensity of a wildfire or the disorientation of a sudden dust storm. For many students, learning about weather through diagrams and definitions feels distant - easy to forget. But the real thing? It’s unforgettable. The problem is, we can’t put students in the path of a storm to show them why meteorology matters. So how can we bring the power of extreme weather into the classroom - safely, memorably, and meaningfully?
Solution
To make this Meteorology course more engaging, we created a 6-scene AR course that brings extreme weathers from around the world into the classroom. Each scene focuses on a different condition, from wildfires to dust storms, using interactive storytelling and visuals to explain the science behind them.
My Design Process
User Flows- After going through the narrative script, I created a detailed user flow for the entire game.
This included:
The main menu players see when they enter the game
In-scene interactions and the 5 mini-games, which can be played in any order

Whenever I had a new task:
I started with a variety of concepts using basic shapes, I shared the options with the team and turned it into a quick, collaborative moment: everyone voted using stars to pick their favorite shapes.
The most-loved designs were refined and finalized, then brought to life in Unity.
Each badge was created as a collectible reward for completing a chapter in the game, something players could feel proud of.
By the end of the game, players would collect all 6 badges, each one marking a milestone in their journey.

Conclusion
Focused on creating an experience that felt intuitive, immersive, and meaningful, not just visually appealing.
Designed every element to be natural, engaging, and accessible, especially for teaching complex topics like meteorology.
Combined storytelling, usability, and spatial thinking to design beyond the screen.
Watched the project grow from quick sketches to a fully interactive VR experience.
The best part? Seeing it come to life, turning learning into an actual adventure.
